Diabetes type 2

About 2 months ago we found out our daughter has Type 1 Diabetes. These have become a part of our daily lives. She has to take insulin shots 3 times a day. I am beginning to get over my fear of needles.

She is a trooper. Already she gives her own shots, tests her own blood, records her sugar levels and watches what she eats. I am so proud of her … she is being so responsible.

I just wish she didn’t have it … or they had a cure.

December 22 2007 day 72 – Packing goodies for grandpa
Diabetes type 2

My grandpa in India got diagnosed with early type 2 diabetes a few years ago. Being more than 80 years old, he finds it difficult to resist sweet treats from time to time. I’m packing some Splenda and some low-carb/sugarfree Jello treats for him, so my mom can make him some sweet treats without worrying about blood sugar levels. I’m going to be with him in a week’s time, and I hope he likes some of the goodies I’m bringing him.

There is no cure for diabetes, yet, but until then, watch those sugary treats, grandpa!

Im so sorry she has this. I’ve had Type II for several years. It’s such a sneaky disease. Im glad to know she’s so responsible.

It’s sad news, but I bet the insulin makes her feel much better.

Not that this has any sort of bearing, but my grandfather has type 1 and constantly smoked and abused alcohol (sugar) his whole adult life and he’s still kickin. They’re making advancements every day to make it less and less complicated to get your insulin and keep everything in balance in order to live life the same as if you didn’t have it.

Good luck! Needles and blood make me light headed.

My best wishes to your daughter. My son was diagnosed at the age of 2 and to get thru one day of living with diabetes is a miracle.

Thanks for posting this in the diabetes art grp.

I was wondering if your daughter’s medical team suggested the insuln pump, being that you mentioned that your daughter was on 3 shots a day,,,?

wishing your daughter continued good health and a wonderful life.!

i bet he will enjoy this gift! i find that being a very young new diagnosis, it’s easier to form the habit of not eating sweet stuff. but i did cave in to a single bite of cheesecake recently.

What a nice thing to bring him! I’m sure he’ll be thrilled with your spectacular low-carb creations. You’re a seriously incredible cook, if the pictures are doing justice to your work!
